Future Training Events

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)

The Date has not been determined for our next CERT class. If however; you represent a group that would be willing to guarantee a minimum of 10 students and would like us to provide this valuable training, please contact our office.

CERT is organized under the direction and leadership of the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office/Emergency Management Division.

CERT training enhances the public's ability to recognize, prepare for, respond to, and recover from a major emergency or disaster situation.  Members are trained to take care of themselves, their families and their neighbors before, during and after a major emergency.

Contact our office to register for this class, for more information on class schedules and locations or to request a special class.

SCART (Sweetwater County Animal Response Team) - The Third Monday of the Month

The SCART was formed as a result of the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS Act).   Hurricane Katrina has clearly shown that when given a choice between their own personal safety and abandoning their household pets, a significant number of people will choose to risk their lives in order to remain with their pets. This makes disaster preparedness and response for animal related personnel an essential undertaking.  Animal and human populations receive greater quality care when disaster response plans are developed before the disaster, not during the actual event.

We would like to invite individuals who are interested in our plan and may be interested in joining our team to attend one of our meetings/training events.

Where: Small Hall of the Sweetwater County Events Complex (Building to the right and slightly behind the Main Hall)
When: The Third Monday of each month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

During the February meeting we will be reviewing our plan. If you already have a manual please bring it to the meeting with you.

Please Note: Due to the President's Day Holiday; our February meeting will be held on Monday, February 8th instead of Monday, February 15th.

Contact our office for more information .
