VETERANS EXEMPTION

Qualifying  taxpayers may  reduce their  property  tax liability or   the  county  portion  of  motor  vehicle registration  fees.    Individual  eligibility  must be  determined  by the  County  Assessors Office.



PROPERTY TAX RELIEF

Property tax relief is available to qualifying persons whose gross  income meets or is below poverty levels.  Gross  income  includes  all  taxable income and non-taxable payments such as child support,  social   security,  unemployment  and  workers compensations to name a few.  The relief is in the form of a refund of property tax due  and  timely  paid   upon   the  taxpayers  principal  place  of residence for the preceding calendar year.   The refund amount depends  on the level  of poverty and the amount of tax paid.  Eligible applicants will  receive  the  refunds  no later than August 31.    Determination of eligibility is made by the County Treasurer's
